Manifesto for the Renewal of the AFA

Dear families,

We are writing to you with the intention of opening a new chapter in the school’s Parents’ Association (Associació de Famílies d’Alumnes, AFA). We believe a new stage is needed, with the clear aim of transforming, modernising and bringing the AFA closer to each and every family in our educational community.

We want every family to have a voice, and that is why it is essential that we mobilise together. The AFA must be open to all of its members and must become, without doubt, an organisation with a clear collaborative vocation between families and the school.

We believe in a model of collaborative work and joint action across the whole educational community, with the principal and unequivocal goal of improving the day-to-day lives of our children during their time at school.

That is why we have written this manifesto and are sharing it with the school’s families, asking for your collaboration in calling on the current AFA Board for greater transparency and communication.

01A new project with a new vision

Our project is grounded in renewal, cross-cutting work and plurality. We believe a strong, participatory AFA must reflect the diverse spirit of our school, listening to and including the voices of all families so that it becomes a genuine meeting point and source of support. The aim is for the AFA to be an open, dynamic and collaborative space, where everyone feels represented and heard.

02A call for collaboration and participation

For this transformation to be possible, we need your involvement. We call on all families to join this new project and work together for an AFA that is closer and more accessible. Your collaboration is essential to create an environment in which families’ ideas, concerns and proposals can be discussed, analysed and put into practice.

03The pillars of our project

  • Active and democratic participation: We firmly believe that the AFA must be a space for participation where all families can express their views and take part in decisions.
  • Open and fluid communication: We commit to improving communication channels to keep you informed about activities, projects and proposals, ensuring two-way, clear and efficient communication.
  • Inclusive and integrating activities: We will work to organise activities that respond to families’ needs and that foster social cohesion within the school.
  • Transparency and accountability: The AFA’s management will be transparent and always at the service of families, with clear and direct information for families.

04A change of leadership for a new chapter

With this manifesto, we express our wish to succeed the current AFA Board and to lead this new project. We are a team of families with experience and a great deal of enthusiasm, ready to head this new stage and to transform the AFA into an association that acts as a genuine space of support for families, that listens to families and that carries new proposals or ideas for improvement to the school, improving the daily lives of the school’s pupils and their families.

05How can you take part?

  • Join the new team: We are looking for families who wish to be part of the team that will lead this project. Previous experience is not required, only a willingness to collaborate, contribute and help.
  • Take part in information meetings: We will soon convene open gatherings to explain the project in detail and to listen to your ideas and suggestions.
  • Walk with us in this new project: Your participation in activities, and your presence and support, will be the key to consolidating this new AFA model.

06A better future for our school

This project is much more than a change of AFA Board, it is a deep transformation of the AFA towards a renewed, participatory and plural model of governance that gives families a voice — families who undoubtedly are, and must occupy, the central role in this new project.

Together we can build an AFA that meets the expectations and needs of all the school’s families, contributing positively to the growth of our sons and daughters, and in which the AFA becomes an association of support and a meeting point and source of backing for every family at the school.

We hope we can count on your support and collaboration to make this new project a reality.
